New Industry Guidance on Labelling Requirements for Synthetic Polymer Microparticles and Pellet Loss Prevention

We are pleased to announce the publication of a new Joint Industry Technical Paper, developed collaboratively by EUMEPS, EuPC, EuMBC, and Plastics Europe. This guidance offers a harmonised approach to the labelling requirements under the REACH Restriction on Synthetic Polymer Microparticles (SPMs) and the upcoming Pellet Loss Prevention Regulation.

The technical paper provides practical recommendations for how the plastics value chain can prepare for compliance. It suggests standardised text for labelling, guidance on placement, and supports the use of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) as the preferred location for this information, especially in light of the short implementation timeline.

This initiative reflects the industry’s commitment to environmental responsibility, regulatory readiness, and consistent communication across the plastics sector.
